These cutting boards are fully functional on both sides, with the three rectangle shaped boards having a juice groove on one side and a flat surface on the other. Please be aware that variation in color and grain pattern occurs naturally in hardwood. Each Maggie’s Cutting Board may be slightly different in appearance than what is shown. Every piece will have a unique character of its own. Maggie’s Cutting Boards will arrive pre-seasoned with a food safe mineral oil. However, to ensure long-term use, your Chopping Board needs to be maintained regularly. Use and care instructions will be included with your purchase. By nature, Walnut cutting boards will require more maintenance, especially initially. Moisture causes the grain to rise on Walnut giving it a slightly rough feel and requiring sanding and oiling several time before it is fully seasoned. READY TO USE – While any wood cutting board will require you to maintain it to ensure long life and durability our boards come preseasoned with our cutting board oil and are ready for you to use. PLEASE NOTE that the grain on Walnut Cutting Boards will rise and give a slight rough feel for the first number of uses until it is cured. A bit of sandpaper and mineral oil will restore it to a smooth surface.
