Thirteen Chefs was founded by a baker, which is why our pastry boards are food service ready for heavy use. The bottom includes six separate rubber feet that are wide and 0.50 inch thick. This provides stability and prevents the pastry board from sliding while in use. No more using wet towels or separate rubber mats! The feet also make it easy to lift up the marble and move it for cleaning or storage.
Our marble is genuine white quarry marble and comes polished on the surface and sides, with the bottom left natural. It is not “engineered” marble or made from other stone materials. Real marble is valued by bakers and chocolatiers alike, because marble is excellent at retaining thermal mass, which means it is good at staying cold (if it was cold to being with). This is useful for temping chocolate to help the chocolate cool quickly. Cool marble also helps with pastries, because the cold surface keeps flour from sticking and making it easy for flattening and rolling of dough.

If you are looking for a casual serving board or you’ve heard about marble being a good cutting board, we kindly and gently recommend you look for an alternative option. This board if for serious and professional use and may be too heavy for casual home cooks to use.
